Dinner for Chistine Shields
On Friday the 5th I am making my way into the heart of San Francisco for a very special dinner. My friend Christine Shields is having an art reception for some of her new work currently showing at Triple Base Gallery in the Mission http://basebasebase.com/.
I am planning a very exciting meal just for her. Taking into account her favorite food, blackberries. Although we are at the end of the blackberry boom, I am going to make a dessert of poached pears in red wine, a small scoop of vanilla ice cream with blackberry reduction drizzled on top.
I am also going to make the AMAZING EGGPLANT PARMESAN THAT FEATURES EGGPLANTS DEEP-FRIED IN GHEE! Yes you heard me correctly, deep friend in ghee. I know, insane. As Joe says, I am going to “ruin” everyone.I am looking forward to an adventure in the city and seeing some old friends.

ghee alone is one of the greatest gifts to my kitchen:) but that eggplant parmesan deep-fried in ghee and CHICKPEA flour was the treat of the decade! at least for my strict gluten-free sweetie who hadnt eaten fried eggplant parmesan in 9 years…..It was fabuloso~ everyone will benefit from your loving cooking and the ghee too:) thanks for all you do for the nutritional development of our youth and communities…. keep the farm to table connection strong~
